The MiraCosta Art Gallery currently features Two Simultaneous Exhibits: Reverence, and Lucky Number 13

April 27 – May 20, 2026

RECEPTION: Thursday, May 5 at 2:30pm

Reverence (ART 271) – “Reverence”, a term meaning to treat with deep respect, has been something historically overlooked when displaying cultural art objects in American institutions. With intentional efforts to not continue colonial methods of showing art, MiraCosta is excited to present a show curated by our Art 271 class, titled “Reverence”.

“Reverence” showcases art objects from around the globe, allowing viewers to experience and learn about our planet’s past and current cultural diversity. Artworks include pottery from México, wood carvings from India, statues from Africa, and masks from Papua New Guinea, which will be featured alongside written descriptions of what was discovered through research by our 271 Curators.

Lucky Number 13: TRISKAIDEKAPHOBIA (ART 295) – This exhibition is the capstone project of the Visual Art/Professional Practice (Art 295) course, featuring a stunning collection of original works by art majors who honed their skills in studio courses offered by the Art Department. Students collaboratively oversee all aspects of the exhibition, from exhibition, curation & design, installation, and publicity; demonstrating their engagement with the gallery systems process and their readiness for professional creative endeavors.
